61 km paver roads for Panchkula

Panchkula to get 61 km of new paver block roads, says Haryana CM

Chandigarh – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed the construction of 61 kilometres of paver block roads in Panchkula district. These roads will replace existing “kutcha” or unpaved roads in 19 villages located in the hilly areas of Morni and Kalka. The move aims to improve connectivity, ensure smooth traffic flow, and provide better road infrastructure for local residents.

The Chief Minister announced that the 61-km paver block roads will be 12 feet wide. He said this width is sufficient to allow safe and smooth passage for vehicles and pedestrians. The roads will be constructed after obtaining a no-objection certificate (NoC) from the forest department, and work is expected to start promptly once approvals are in place.

Saini gave these directions during a review meeting with officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Forest Department. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (PWD) Anurag Agarwal, and other senior officers.

Strengthening and widening of key roads

Apart from the construction of paver block roads in villages, the Chief Minister also instructed officials to strengthen and widen several important roads in the district and nearby areas. This includes the Panipat-Safidon road (41 km), Safidon-Jind road (21.65 km), and the Saha Chowk-Panchkula-Yamunanagar four-lane road. Other roads identified for strengthening are Saha Chowk-Kalpi and Tohana-Ratia roads.

Saini emphasized that improving these major roads is essential to ensure better connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance safety for commuters. Officials were directed to complete the projects efficiently and maintain high-quality standards during construction. The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of timely coordination between departments to avoid delays in the work.

Focus on local development projects

In addition to major highways, Saini asked officials to expedite smaller projects within Panchkula. These include road works on Thapali Badisher-Koti (1.68 km), Pinjore Mallah-Mangniwala (1.20 km), and Gobindpur-Thathar (5.35 km) roads. By improving both small and large roads, the government aims to ensure that villagers and residents have easier access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to monitor ongoing projects regularly and resolve any obstacles quickly. He stressed the importance of involving local authorities and communities to ensure that the roads meet public needs. Proper maintenance and timely completion of projects, Saini said, are vital for long-term benefits.

The PWD and forest department officials were asked to work closely to ensure that construction complies with environmental regulations. Obtaining forest clearances and following safety guidelines were highlighted as key priorities before starting construction in hilly areas.

Impact on Panchkula and surrounding areas

The planned 61-km paver block roads will significantly improve transportation in Panchkula’s hilly regions. Villages in Morni and Kalka will have better access to main roads, which is expected to enhance economic activities, facilitate transport of goods, and improve daily commutes for residents. The upgraded roads are also expected to boost tourism in these areas by making it easier for visitors to reach popular hill spots.

By widening and strengthening major highways, the government aims to reduce traffic jams, prevent accidents, and make travel more efficient for commuters traveling between cities and towns in Haryana. Residents and local businesses are likely to benefit from smoother connectivity and improved road quality.

Officials attending the review meeting assured the Chief Minister that work would begin immediately after necessary approvals. They also highlighted ongoing monitoring mechanisms to track project progress and address any challenges that may arise during construction.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s latest directive reflects the state government’s focus on improving road infrastructure, connectivity, and safety in Panchkula and surrounding areas. The 61 km of new paver block roads in Morni and Kalka, along with the strengthening of major highways and smaller local roads, is expected to provide lasting benefits for residents, commuters, and businesses. With proper planning, coordination, and timely execution, these road projects aim to enhance mobility, promote development, and improve the quality of life for people in the region.
